PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor capable of optionally outputting an initializing potential from the output terminal of a photodetector. SOLUTION: A dark level is corrected by optionally fixing the level of an external control signal of a chip in a plurality of linear image sensor ICs so as to allow only a first sensor IC chip or a final number sensor IC chip to output a dark level at all times or by driving an external control signal to allow all sensor IC chips to selectively provide outputs or to provide outputs of a difference of two signals of the sensor IC chips providing an output of the dark level at all times and the sensor IC chips providing an output of an image signal.
