PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply that decreases loss under a light load and no-load conditions, and that prevents an overcurrent from flowing into a switching element and the like at the time of a start, a sudden change of the load, and the like. SOLUTION: This switching power supply is provided with a magnetic element to which an input voltage is impressed to induce a voltage that becomes an output by switching on and off the switching element; a current detector that detects a current generated by the 'on-off' of the switching element; and a comparator that inputs a current command value consisting of a difference between the output and a prescribed voltage and of the output of the detector, and that outputs the trigger of turning off the switching element. An offsetting circuit is also provided that impresses a voltage lower than the lower limit of the current command value to the output of the detector. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
