The extension piece for a seat or bed has an upper, upholstered panel (4) which is connected to a base (2) by a knee joint (6) at the rear end. A lever (7) connects the front to the base to the center of the upper panel, so that when the extension is pulled out the upper panel is raised. A spring (8) fitted on the base of the front lever assists this process.
