A reversible heat-sensitive recording medium comprising a supporting sheet and a heat-sensitive recording layer which is formed on the supporting sheet and contains a colorless or pale dye precursor and a developer for reversibly developing and decoloring the dye precursor is characterized in that the developer is a compound having such a structure wherein at least one fluorine atom is bonded to a carbon atom in the beta-position and/or gamma-position relative to an alcoholic hydroxyl group. Also disclosed is such a fluorine atom-substituted alcohol.
