SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEDICAL IMAGE PROCESSING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for medical image processing capable of improving the precision in determination by using comparison with a plurality of images already classified between normal images and abnormal images for determining a candidate for abnormal shade.

SOLUTION: The medical image processing system 10 has an abnormal shade candidate detecting means 14 for detecting a candidate for abnormal shade from a medical image. The medical image processing system 10 also comprises a characteristic quantity calculating means 15 for calculating the quantity of characteristics by analyzing the region of the obtained abnormal shade candidate, a data storing means 12 for classifying and recording the quantity of characteristics obtained by inputting the known images classified into a plurality of groups in the characteristic quantity calculating means 19 into a plurality of groups, and an abnormal shade candidate determining means 16 for selecting a known image similar to the region of the abnormal shade candidate by comparing and referring to the quantities of characteristics of the abnormal shade candidate region and the known image and determining a group to which the abnormal shade candidate region belongs based on the rate of belonging of known images to groups.
