<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire stretcher capable of preventing the separation of an initially mounted gripping tool from an electric wire. <P>SOLUTION: The wire stretcher is so composed that a triangular wedge 8 capable of fitting-in/separating-from a space 7 between a fixed shaft 2 of a body 1 and a tension lever 6 by spring force is arranged at the tip of the tension lever 6. The triangular wedge 8 is fitted in the space 7 between the fixed shaft 2 of the body 1 and the tension lever 6. Thus, the movement of a clamp lever 3 is constrained.
