<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To counter a power failure using a small-capacity UPS or without a UPS by switching a commercial power source to a generator which is activated in advance according to prediction for power failures obtained from forecast information about lightning storms and typhoons. <P>SOLUTION: The system comprises a power supply control device 10 which controls electric power provided to a computer 21 which is an object to be supplied with electric power, a generator 14 which generates electric power, a switching device 15 which selects electric power supplied to the computer 21 generated from a commercial power source or from the generator 14. A power control part 11 obtains forecast information, which is used to predict power failures, through the Internet 29 from an information service system 22. When possibility of power failures is high within a certain period which is predicted based on the forecast information, the device activates the generator 14, and instructs a switching device 15 to switch to the generator from the commercial power source after confirming that generating power of the generator 14 becomes stable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
