PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical apparatus such as liquid crystal display apparatus which is capable of suppressing the production of shavings of alignment layer upon rubbing to the utmost by flattening the formation region of an external circuit connecting terminal as much as possible and, thereby, can display a higher quality image. SOLUTION: The electro-optical device includes data lines, scanning lines, TFTs (thin film transistors), pixel electrodes and pads 404P exposed to the outside of the electro-optical device, and is provided with the outside circuit connecting terminals 102 for supplying at least an image signal from the outside of the electro-optical device to the data lines via the pads. The data lines, scanning lines, TFTs and pixel electrodes respectively constitute one part of a lamination structure and the exposure face of the pads 404P is located on the same height as the uppermost surface of the lamination structure.
