PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new pyran derivative having industrially useful properties or usable as an effective starting compound for synthesis of additional pyran derivative. SOLUTION: The pyran derivative is expressed by formula I, those compounds can be used for example, in liquid crystal medium.
