PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system that can quickly authenticate a pair of a disk array device storing a plurality of disk devices and an information processor loaded with the disk array device. SOLUTION: The information processing system has the information processor and a cartridge device storing the plurality of disk devices and usable as the disk array device when removably connected to the information processor. The cartridge device has nonvolatile storing means for storing at least authentication information used in authentication by the information processor. The information processor acquires the authentication information from the nonvolatile storing means, uses at least the acquired authentication information to authenticate the disk array device, and if the authentication succeeds, starts the plurality of disk devices.
