PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase and stabilize paper feeding precision or more precisely, suppress increase of paper feeding error frequency with time. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device includes a paper feeding roller 48, a paper feeding base 37 supporting loading paper and applying the uppermost paper of the loading paper to the paper feeding roller 48, a means for rotating and driving the paper feeding roller to feed a paper in the uppermost part of the loading paper on the paper feeding base, and means 38 to 41, 54 to 56 for adjusting contact pressure between the paper in the uppermost part and the paper feeding roller. This paper feeding device is provided with an integrating means 131 for calculating a feeding amount integration value R1U corresponding to the number of paper feeding by the paper feeding roller 48 and a contact pressure control means 131 for increasing contact pressure through the contact pressure adjusting means 38 to 41, 54 to 56 corresponding to increase of the feeding amount integrating value R1U.
