PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which discharge passages can be changed in constitution that can be realized simply and at low cost to make an operator less likely to fail to change destinations, and in which output of correct sheets can be securely performed to respective discharged paper trays by using dedicated discharged paper trays corresponding to the kinds of discharged sheets or the expected sheet number of discharged paper. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, a projection 16 is provided to project toward a face-up discharge port 20 on one side of a discharge passage changing member 15 provided at a branch point of the discharge passages. As an insert part 24 provided outside a sheet width range of the discharged paper tray is inserted from the discharge port 20, a projected part provided on the insert part 24 is applied to the projection, so that the discharge passage changing member 15 is rotated to change the discharge passages. In the insert part 24, a communication part is provided, so that the kind of the discharged paper tray installed is discriminated by the image forming device based on a signal from it.
