PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient air cleaner which can scatter electrons or the like at high speed by discharge and can surely destroy or inactivate microbes contained in a gas. SOLUTION: In this air cleaner, in order to utilize the entire air flow passing area as a discharge area and increase the efficiency of pulse streamer discharge generated radially from a discharge electrode, the metal wire of the discharge electrode 1 is arranged in the same direction as the direction of causing the gas containing the microbes to flow and a counter electrode 2 is molded in a cylindrical shape so that the metal wire of the discharge electrode 1 is the center of the circle.
