The invention relates to a motor-driven support device for the upholstery of a piece of furniture used to sit or lie down, especially a mattress for a bed. Said support device comprises a first supporting element (4) provided with longitudinal struts (20, 22), and at least one second supporting element (8) that can be displaced by driving means, especially pivoted, in relation to the first supporting element (4). At least one first longitudinal strut (20) of the first supporting element (4) is embodied as a hollow profiled element in order to receive parts of the driving means. According to the invention, the driving motor (24) is arranged outside the first longitudinal strut (20), at least with the end thereof opposing the output shaft of the driving motor (24). A recess (56) is formed in a lateral wall (26) pertaining to the first longitudinal strut (20) and facing the other longitudinal strut (22), and the output shaft of the driving motor (24) or a first transmission element connected to the output shaft of the driving motor (24) in a rotationally driving manner protrudes into the first longitudinal strut (20), through the recess, and engages with a second transmission element arranged inside the first longitudinal strut (20). The inventive supporting device (2) is especially easy, and thus economical, to produce, and is especially compact. |
