METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR RETRANSMITING MULTI-MEDIA DATA TO OBTAIN MOVING PICTURE HAVING IMPROVED QUALITY

PURPOSE: A system for retransmitting multi-media data is provided to efficiently reproduce a moving picture having improved quality while minimizing a number of retransmission times and retransmission capacity by retransmitting only a minimum frame required for reproducing the moving picture. CONSTITUTION: A system for retransmitting multi-media data includes a reproducing station(20) selectively requesting retransmission of I-picture frame with error or loss from received packet data and a streaming server(10) selectively retransmitting a corresponding I-picture frame requested from the reproducing station to a retransmission buffer that separately stores I-picture frames. A method for retransmitting multi-media data includes the steps of transmitting a retransmission request signal to a streaming server after a reproducing station detects I-picture frame with error or loss from received packet data, and retransmitting a corresponding I-picture frame requested after the streaming server selects the I-picture frame from a retransmission buffer.
