<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinol having high optical purity in high efficiency by the enzymatic reduction of N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinone. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the optically active N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinol comprises the treatment of N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinone with an enzyme having an amino acid sequence selected from the following amino acid sequences. (a) An amino acid sequence of an enzyme having a specific amino acid sequence; (b) an amino acid sequence of an enzyme having an amino acid sequence (a) wherein one or more amino acid sequences are deleted, substituted or added and capable of producing the optically active N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinol by the asymmetric reduction of N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinone; etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
