ANTICANCER AGENT AND FOOD OR BEVERAGE CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anticancer agent having extremely slight adverse effect, capable of safely being administered and excellent in suppressing action on cancer cells and a food or beverage containing the anticancer.

SOLUTION: The anticancer agent comprises an oligosaccharide represented by the formula (1): R1-Gal-GlcNH2-R2(wherein R1and R2each represent sugar or R1and R2may not exist; Gal is galactose; GlcNH2is glucosamine or its salt), being di- to hexa-oligosaccharide and containing a galactosylglucosamine structure in which galactose is bound to glucosamine or glucosamine salt in the interior of the oligosaccharide chain or at the terminals thereof as an active ingredient. The anticancer can be utilized by adding the anticancer to foods or beverages.
