<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a plurality of objects of varying sizes in a storage area. <P>SOLUTION: A directory structure is stored in the storage area, and small object steams are allocated, and the directory structure is updated for the purpose of referring to the small object streams by using a single reference, and small object streams are allocated to a plurality of objects larger than a small object size respectively, and the directory structure is updated for the purpose of referring to allocated streams.
