PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and selectively update only software with a high advancement level. SOLUTION: Updated file information including the number of starts of the software is sent to a database center. Whenever the software is started, the number of starts is increased. The center uses the number of starts relevant to the number of times of utilization of the software as an index of an advancement level and compares with a set updating condition set for all application software in the same (common) to transmit all the latest software meeting updating conditions. One of the updating conditions is the one in which the number of starts satisfies a prescribed number or larger. When the updating conditions are met, it is determined that there is software to be downloaded. Then, it is rewritten to a software of the latest version. At the same time, the updated version and a updated date are stored in an updating file. Only the software meeting the updating condition is selectively and automatically updated.
