摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out secured communication between a plurality of CPUs inside a single storage device without using any external network and to realize highly reliable high-speed communication without arranging any new internal network. SOLUTION: For speed-up of a disk I/O, the storage device has a disk cache as a standard feature connected to all the CPUs 101-103. When data are transferred between the CPUs via the disk cache, highly reliable high-speed communication can be carried out. The disk cache 132 cannot be accessed by designating a specific area from the CPU. When I/O processors IOP 111-113 controlling the disk cache map a partial area of the disk cache in an address space of the CPU, the CPU can make direct access to the disk cache for using it for communication between the CPUs.
