PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array system which can easily know the inconsistency of configuration information on the disk array system accommodating a plurality of detachable disk devices, from a disk array controller device. SOLUTION: The disk array system comprises the disk array controller device 404, the plurality of disk devices 300 composing a disk array 400, and a cartridge device 100 capable of accommodating the disk devices 300. The cartridge device 100 has an EEPROM 402 capable of reading/writing of stored contents by the disk array controller device, and stores a first array configuration information indicating the configuration of the disk array system in the EEPROM. The disk devices 300 have an area for storing a second array configuration information indicating the configuration of the disk array system. The disk array controller device 404 controls the disk devices as the disk array, on the basis of the array configuration information of any one or more of the first array configuration information and the second array configuration information.
