PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To align the front of a commodity placed inside a vending machine to a proper position regardless of the kind of the commodity. SOLUTION: The commodity placed in a position closest to a commodity transfer device of a commodity column is conveyed toward the commodity transfer device by normally rotationally driving a conveyor belt 43, a detector (an optical sensor 97) detects that the commodity is conveyed to a position at a prescribed distance from the commodity transfer device, the conveyance of the commodity by the conveyor belt 43 is stopped according to the detection, a commodity conveyor device is reversely rotationally driven after the stop to convey the commodity to a moving-away direction of the commodity from the commodity transfer device, and the reversely rotational drive of the conveyor belt 43 is stopped after a lapse of a prescribed time from the start of the conveyance to bring the commodity to a standstill.
