PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make display of high picture quality corresponding to a moving picture to be displayed. SOLUTION: A signal line driving circuit can supply an image signal for (p) (p: an integer of≥2) gradations and the image signal is turned to an image signal for displaying a picture with the (p) gradations, when a still picture is displayed, a multi-gradation display system is used which makes 2p-gradation display for a one-frame period and when a moving picture is displayed, one frame is divided into at least 1st and 2nd subfields to display the original image in the 1st subfield and an interpolated image in the 2nd subfield.
