PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device that can be made compact and can keep high positioning accuracy and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser device 1 is provided with a stem 3 as a stand member and a cap member 2. The stem 3 is provided with a main body 4 having a reference plane 7, and heat radiation base 5 that is located on the reference plane of the main body 4 as a device mounting part for mounting a laser device 10. The cap member 2 is placed on the reference plane 7 of the stem 3 in a manner to cover the heat radiation base 5. A hole 16b is made on the side wall of the cap member 2 opposite to the heat radiation base 5. An area adjoining to the hole 16b on the inner circumference side of the side wall of the cap member 2 is adhered to the outer circumference surface 27 of the heat radiation base 5, thereby fixing the cap member 2 and the stem 3.
