PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tyrosinase decomposition promoter, to provide a skin case preparation containing the same capable of inhibiting melanogenesis not depending on tyrosinase activity inhibition. SOLUTION: The tyrosinase decomposition promoter comprises a compound of the general formula(1)( wherein, R is H, a 1-4C acyl or saccharide residue; R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>13</SB>are each H, OH or a 1-4C alkyl ) and/or a salt thereof. The skin care preparation as a cosmetic contains the promoter. By applying this cosmetic to the skin, melanogenesis in the skin can be inhibited. This decomposition promoter decomposes tyrosinase via cysteine protease. The above compound is e.g. 2'-hydroxy-2,4,4,7,4'-pentamethylflavan or 2'-hydroxy-7,4'-diethyl-2,4,4-trimethylflavan.
