<p>An optical information storage device includes a medium storage section containing a plurality of optical storage media, an information access section for information-accessing the optical storage media, and a medium shift section for moving the optical media between the medium storage section and the information access section, three built in a case, thereby increasing the storage capacity and reducing the device size. The medium shift section performs a supply step for moving an optical storage medium along a supply path leading from the medium storage section to the information access section and a withdrawal step for moving an optical storage medium, which may be other than the optical storage medium on the aforementioned supply path, along a withdrawal path leading from the information access section to the medium storage section. By providing the supply path and the withdrawal path separately, it is possible to simultaneously perform the supply step and the withdrawal step, thereby realizing high-speed exchange of the optical storage media.</p> |
