A method for constructing a drive system for a vehicle clutch master cylinder has a clutch piston (3) sliding inside an outer cylinder (5) and over a central cylindrical guide (7). The sliding surfaces are coated with a special lacquer which provides a dual function by forming a secure sliding seal and by covering any surface irregularities caused by the previous press operations. The sliding surface is prepared by sand blasting and/or phosphate treatment for an improved grip for the lacquer. The lacquer layer can include pockets holding a lubricant film (39).
