Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) component comprising a substrate (1), an anode (2), a polymer-based emitter material (5) and a cathode (6), also includes a hole blocking layer (4) between the anode and emitter material. Independent claims are also included for: (1) organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display with at least one component as above; (2) generating electroluminescent light by injecting electrons via a cathode into a polymeric emitter material by applying an electric field and injecting holes via an anode into a polymeric emitter material by applying an electric field, where the field-induced movement of holes from the anode into the emitter material is reduced or at least partially suppressed.
