<p>In a paper manufacturing process a fibrous solution is continually discharged from a headbox containing vortex generators and terminating in a converging passage. The headbox contains a sensor to monitor the degree of flocculation. The sensor is an optical sensor or radiometric sensor. The sensor (10, 11) is located on the upper or lower lip (5, 6) near the trailing edge. The fibre distribution is modified by a combination of vortex generators, venture constriction, geometry, pneumatically-controlled venturi insert, electrical or magnetic field and/or additives. The fibre distribution is regulated by the sensor signal.</p> |
