A speaker apparatus 1 comprises a speaker box 3 having an opening portion 4a; a speaker unit 2 with a sound radiation portion 7 housed in the speaker box, the sound radiation portion connected to the opening portion via a cushioning material 8; a weight 10 coupled to the back face of the speaker unit and a support 12 extending from the back of the weight, and fixing members 14 provided in the speaker box for fixing the supporting portion. A stand 9 for the unit may have a ball 15 and socket 16 joint from which legs 30 extend. The magnetic portion of the speaker unit may have an axial through hole which communicates with an axial through hole of the weight (Fig 12).
