In a process to determine the consistency of natural gas, a sample is exposed to infra-red light and the absorption characteristics are determined for two wavelength ranges. The thermal conductivity is also measured. The gas characteristics are determined from the three measurements. The two wave bands are in the region of 3.5 m and 4.3 m. In addition to the adsorbed part of the infra-red radiation, a further measurement is made at a wavelength of 7.9 m. The proportion of infra-red radiation and the thermal conductivity are determined under common standard measuring condition of constant temperature and pressure. An Independent claim is also included for an assembly with a sensor array (4), infra-red radiation detectors, a thermal conductivity sensor and a data processing unit. |
