A flat main plate (2) and a smaller reinforcing plate (3) are patched together and formed in a forming tool. Before forming, the laminate plate (6') is heated to a temperature above the forming temperature of the material, e.g. between 850 and 930 degrees C, formed while warm, and cooled in the closed forming tool (22) or a later fixing tool (23), with mechanical fixing. The reinforcing plate is supplied with stiffening beads before patching with the main plate, so that it can engage positively on the main plate.
