A control device (1) relays control signals to function components (A1) in the radio, addressing operating commands through an operating device (4). The control device generates control signals based on a preset family of characteristics specific to the vehicle. These characteristics are loaded into a memory device (3) which correlates between the vehicle condition and the programming of function components.
