PURPOSE:To produce efficiently a titled handle in short welding time by utilizing material efficiently by cutting a blank metallic wire, forming the wire to an approximately trapezoidal shape, bringing only the outside part of the free end faces facing each other into contact with each other and welding partially the same. CONSTITUTION:The linear handle 1 for a can is cut from the blank metallic wire into a prescribed shape and the cut faces thereof are made perpendicular to the axial center direction of the handle for the can. The handle 1 for the can is bent to the trapezoidal shape and both free end sides 1a are made approximately the same in the axial line. The free end faces 1a' thereof face each other apart at a slight space therebetween. The two end sides 1a move inward and only the outside parts of the end faces 1a' contact with each other when said sides are pushed from the outside. Electrodes are brought into contact with both end faces 1a' near the same and current is passed thereto, then the current flows mainly in the contact parts at the bottom ends of the end faces 1a' and therefore the contact parts are melted in short time. The electrodes are removed from the end faces 1a' before said end faces melt over the entire part. The handle is thus produced without oozing of the welded part from both end faces 1a'. |
