Polymer electrolyte

A polymer electrolyte, configured to provide ion transport, with a main chain first repeating unit and a second repeating unit interdispersed therewith, wherein the second repeating unit is less strongly co-ordinating than the first. Also disclosed is a copolymer of formula wherein R1 is alkylene or benzene, R2 is O, N, alkylene, phenylene or methylene, R3 is alkyl, Ph, alkyl-phenyl and n is 3-8 and r is 2-3. Also disclosed is a method of making the copolymer comprising reacting wherein variables are as specified above and p is between 1 and 7 and Y is a halogen; a polymer comprising an additional repeating unit which is a polyester, a carbonate or a ketone; and galvanic cells comprising the said polymers.
