A method of producing gaskets from pastes of sealing material containing a volatile liquid medium, the method comprising the steps of: (a) positioning the paste between a receiving substrate and a sheet of material constituting an outer facing surface; (b) shaping the assembly of the surface, the paste and the substrate to mould the paste and the surface around and onto the substrate, such that the paste is substantially between the surface and the substrate; and (c) drying the product thus formed. The product thus formed may include a gasket for a filter element used in the molten metal/foundry industry. |
