Asphalt composition and process for obtaining same

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an asphalt composition which incorporates asphalt in admixture with synthetic or natural rubber and elemental selenium or an organo-selenium. There is also provided a process for preparing the above asphalt composition. Preferably, the rubber is obtained from waste tires or tubes.
