A rotary mower (10), or multi-tool attachment unit for a skid steer loader (11) which includes a housing (12) which contacts a ground surface (22) to be mowed, a blade (14) mounted to the housing (12) for rotation, a motor (16) mounted to the housing (12) for driving the blade (14), and an actuator mechanism (20) for disabling rotation of the blade (14) when the housing (12) is displaced a predetermined distance from the ground surface (22).
