PURPOSE: A device and a method for warning of the malfunction of a sensor for an accelerator pedal of a vehicle are provided to suppress the motion of an engine when the output value of a stroke sensor is different from the output value of a potentiometer and to make a driver stop changing the engine motion by generating a warning signal. CONSTITUTION: A method for warning of the malfunction of a sensor for an accelerator pedal of a vehicle comprises the steps of inputting the signal outputted from a potentiometer and a stroke sensor to an ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(ST10), comparing the resistance value outputted from the potentiometer to the displacement of the stroke sensor when a driver operates an accelerator pedal(ST20), outputting a control signal if the resistance value outputted from the potentiometer is the same as the displacement of the stroke sensor(ST30), and outputting a warning signal if the resistance value outputted from the potentiometer is different from the displacement of the stroke sensor(ST40).
