PURPOSE: A method for displaying location information in a navigation system is provided to catch the whole view by previously confirming real images for following peripheral installations using the present location information and proceeding direction of a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a mobile terminal selects a navigation mode and transmits associated information to an information center, the information center transmits map data to set up a route from the present location of the mobile terminal to the destination. If the mobile terminal selects a desired route at the map data, the information center transmits map data containing information on the selected route and the nodes on the selected route. In case that the mobile terminal moves without selecting the optimum route after downloading the map data, the information center checks the proceeding direction of the mobile terminal and transmits a node message at the nearest node when the mobile terminal passes through a node.
