PURPOSE: A switchable display/mirror method and apparatus is provided to allow a display surface to operate as a mirror during operation stop mode. CONSTITUTION: A switchable display/mirror apparatus(10) comprises a display driver(12) and a display. The display includes a switchable display/mirror(11) which is operably coupled to the display driver. The switchable display/mirror has a display operation mode and a mirror operation mode. The switchable display/mirror includes an active array, and a substantial reflection surface disposed in rear of the active array.
