SMALLER IMAGE DETECTOR FOR BANK NOTES HAVING ENHANCED DISTINCTION CAPABILITY

PURPOSE: An image detector for a bank note is provided to minimize a size of the detector and to enhance a distinction capability by disposing a pair of detecting units note at the both side of a transportation path. CONSTITUTION: An image detector for a bank note(11) includes an image detecting sensor and a detecting unit(13). The image detecting sensor detects an image of a first detecting area which is set on one side of a unit frame(18). A first light emitting member(27) irradiates a light towards the first detecting area. A second light emitting member(31) irradiates a light towards a second detecting area which is set on a different side from the first detecting area on one side of the unit frame. The first light emitting member and the second light emitting member are disposed in the unit frame and constitute the detecting unit. A pair of detecting units are disposed at the both side of a transportation path to oppose each other so that the image detecting sensor of one side of the detecting unit detects the image of the second detecting area of the other side of the detecting unit.
