PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for bending a plate. SOLUTION: Dies P and D to bend a plate work W are freely fitted to die supporting tables 17 and 19. The plate bending apparatus turnably supports a turning frame 7 which supports the die supporting tables 17 and 19 on a base body frame 5. In order to attachably/detachably change die holders 27U and 27L having the dies P and D to/from the die supporting tables 17 and 19, a die holder moving means 29 is provided which moves the die holders 27U and 27L to the holder changing position 31 along guide parts 21U and 21L in a holder fitting part provided to the die supporting tables 17 and 19. The turning frame 7 is formed in an annular shape, and a path allowing the die holders 27U and 27L to freely pass therethrough is provided to a supporting shaft part 11 which turnably supports the turning frame 7 on the base body frame 5.
