A security conversion for a plastic frame for a window or door has a metal profile strip (5) applied to the outside of the frame using special screws (4) and clamping the edge of the frame (2). The metal strip can be a zinc pressure casting and the security screws are sufficiently long to grip along the internal walls (8, 6) of the plastic frame. The conversion is designed to upgrade the security of older frames.
