PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that in order to make an optical isolator small in size, it is required to reduce the diameter of the magnet itself, however, when the distance between the magnet and the Faraday rotator decreases, the attractive force between them increases and this requires to increase the adhesion strength of the adhesive holding the Faraday rotator.
SOLUTION: The optical fiber with an optical isolator is prepared by adhering and fixing the one light-transmitting face of the optical isolator having at least one Faraday rotator and a magnet which applies a magnetic field on the Faraday rotator, directly to the end face of an optical fiber with a first adhesive, wherein the first adhesive is optically transparent and has the adhesion strength larger than the attractive force working between the Faraday rotator and the magnet. Thus, the element can be made small in size and have wide-band characteristics.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
