<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an N-monoalkyl-3-hydroxy-3-arylpropylamine. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the N-monoalkyl-3-hydroxy-3-arylpropylamine of formula(3)( wherein, Ar, R<SP>1</SP>and * mean the same as mentioned below ) comprises carrying out an asymmetric reduction of the corresponding compound of formula(1)[ wherein, Ar is a (substituted) aryl or (substituted) heteroaryl; R<SP>1</SP>is a (substituted) 1-5C alkyl; and R<SP>2</SP>is an amino-protecting group ] with an asymmetric catalyst to form a compound of formula(2)( wherein, Ar, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>mean the same as mentioned above; and * denotes an asymmetric carbon atom ) followed by deprotection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
