PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit an appropriate video signal processing means, namely, a video encoder to process and output a video signal by discriminating a scan scheme of a video signal in a selected program when a signal with a plurality of different scan schemes multiplexed thereon is received in a digital broadcast receiving apparatus. SOLUTION: The display device includes a demodulation means for tuning to and demodulating a received signal, a demultiplexing means for demultiplexing encoded audio, video and various data from an output multiplexed signal of the demodulation means, and a decoding means for decoding encoded video and audio signals outputted from the demultiplexing means, and includes a plurality of video processing means to which the outputs of the decoding means are connected and in which corresponding scan schemes are different, an output selecting means for selecting any output from the plurality of video processing means, and a control means for controlling the output selecting means. On the basis of the scan scheme of the selected video signal, the output selecting means is switched, thereby the scan scheme of the video signal in the selected program is discriminated to perform appropriate processing.
