PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize force required for opening-closing operation, while maintaining sealability equal to a conventional gas cock having fire resistant packing. SOLUTION: This gas cock has a metallic valve casing 1, a metallic valve element 26 of a ball structure, and a metallic valve rod 25 projected outside the valve casing 1, and capable of rotating the valve element 26; seals a part between an outer peripheral surface of the valve rod 25 and a penetrating part inner surface of the valve casing 1; and is formed by interposing a low frictional plastic ring-like sealant 38 between radially expanded surfaces 31 integrally formed on the outer periphery of the valve rod 25, so as to be opposed to the penetrating part outside opening end 28a and the inside opening end 28b.
