PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make pipe jacking work more efficient or more proper, by appropriately injecting a lubricant in a slurry type pipe jacking method. SOLUTION: This method comprises: a process (a) wherein an excavated soil amount rate V is determined by a specific arithmetic calculation expression (1) from a discharged slurry amount Q<SB>1</SB>, a sent slurry amount Q<SB>2</SB>, a pipe jacking distance L and an excavation outside diameter D<SB>2</SB>in each pipe jacking stage for continuously propelling an excavator 10 and a buried pipe 20; and a process (b) wherein the lubricant of a mount Q<SB>s</SB>, determined by a specific arithmetic calculation expression (2) from the previous discharged mud amount Q<SB>1</SB>, the previous sent slurry amount Q<SB>2</SB>, the previous pipe jacking distance L and an outside diameter D<SB>1</SB>of the buried pipe, is injected between the buried pipe and the ground, in the next pipe jacking stage, when the rate V determined in the preceding process (a) exceeds 100%.
