PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method in stopping of doffing in a spinning machine with which a yarn is cut at a position corresponding to a cutter part or an edge part even in the case of yarn with low count. SOLUTION: The spinning machine is constituted in such a way that a spindle drive system and a draft apparatus are driven independently from a lifting drive system. When a gradient winding is formed on a bobbin in stopping of doffing, the rotational speed of a front roller is reduced in the middle of drop of a ring rail without changing number of twists and operation is carried out so as to increase an angle of a yarn constituting the gradient winding to the horizontal direction. In the doffing by a doffer, the yarn reaching from the bobbin to a grip part is made into a state of being brought into contact with a cutter part at a large angle and the yarn is cut at the cutter part.
